Another year has sped by, and my original baby boy is now 9 years old! May 12, we celebrated the birth of this extraordinary young man.
He wanted the traditional chocolate-on-chocolate cake we love to make.

Among the gifts he received were a couple of board games -- Risk and Battleship.

Aunt Mel gave him a Star Wars Lego set, which he was pretty happy about.

Mario Kart for the Wii came courtesy of the Cochrans and Reeds in GA. There was an extra steering wheel, which made Bradley pretty happy. I think maybe Lindsey was expecting a third?

From Marmee -- the Pokemon DS game he had been longing for.

And from Aunt Manda and Uncle Drew -- Lightning McQueen!

He also got a tennis set for outside (which I didn't get a photo of) and some cash.
We had a birthday party Saturday, and he invited some of his friends to come hang out. It was Pokemon themed. I was so busy or absent-minded that I didn't get any photos, except of the Pokeball cupcakes that Chris, Mel, and I made. They turned out pretty cool.

Yes, he's a big boy. He's growing faster than I can even comprehend, and he amazes me every day, not just with what he knows but with what he understands. He's smart, funny, adorable, caring, sensitive, and talented.
I was amazed with how quickly he became very skilled at Guitar Hero (which my loving, wonderful family gave me for Mother's Day). I'm hoping this will transfer over to the real guitar before long.

The boy loves video games; what can I say. When it starts to make me feel guilty I remember he's smart as a whip, and gaming hasn't seemed to affect his schooling or behavior. (Hopefully that doesn't ever happen.)
So this is how we see him a lot:

But he's always the good big brother.

Son, Happy Birthday. We love you like mad. Thanks for being who you are and letting us be your parents.
