In celebration, we had a party. Joseph was not feeling very well, unfortunately, but he did his best to enjoy himself. His friend Kadence came over to hang out.
Joseph's loving siblings drew these awesome picture/birthday cards for their little brother.
Here's Bradley's:
He did like opening gifts.

Here's the mini cake we made just for Joseph. (The rest of us had cupcakes.)
He doesn't look too thrilled with the whole thing.
It took a little encouragement to get him to try the cake -- at first he just demolished it with his hands and made a big mess, but he wouldn't eat any.
But once he tried a taste, he knew he was onto something good.

In medical news, Joseph also had his 12 month doctor's appointment, where I was basically informed of my failure as a mother because the poor, underfed baby only weighs like 17 lbs and is in the 1st 5-ile or whatever. We're supposed to give him PediaSure or Instant Breakfast or something and try to beef him up a little. (But to be honest, I think he's absolutely perfect as he is!!!!)
So happy birthday, my little man. I can't express to you with meager words how full of love I am for you. Your presence in our family has been an indescribable blessing. I know you are a special spirit, and I have been amazed by the feelings you have brought about in those of us who love you. Your siblings are mad about you; they won't leave you alone! Thank you for coming to live with us and bringing us such happiness. I look forward to many, many years ahead.

Happy birthday, little guy! What great pictures. I loved learning how he discovered his cake. And I agree with you--he is perfect!
Is it possible that he is 1? I am sitting here wondering where the time went and thinking about this darling boy. Is he small for his age? I cant believe it. He is a beautiful boy. Happy birthday!
